About this deal

Early episodes focused on simple moments of shared joy like jumping in muddy puddles or playing hide and seek; by the end of series one, Peppa had grown into a closely observed sitcom, with its central character not Peppa herself, but Daddy Pig. Little Miss B has been desperate to jump in puddles the last few days. This morning we woke to lovely sunshine after a night of solid rain which meant it was a perfect day for puddle jumping! We rugged up in our warm clothes donned our gumboots and went in search of some great big, muddy puddles. We do have a couple here at home but as we live close to some wetlands we decided to venture down there. We were not disappointed. There were puddles everywhere. Little Miss B and I had a wonderful time jumping about and laughing hysterically. Jumping, in general, is an excellent physical activity for your kids to participate in. And not only strengthens muscles and bones but also helps develop balance and spatial awareness. You can also improve social interactions as it’s a physical activity that kids can do with other kids their age and incorporate different games that they can use for teamwork and negotiation.

Moreover, jumping in puddles encourages children to explore and experiment. As they splash around, they learn about cause and effect, understanding that their actions create a reaction. Stirring and scooping the puddle water with their hands or tools can also help build fine motor skills, enhancing their hand-eye coordination and dexterity.Find a measuring tape or ruler and help your child measure the puddle. How wide is it? How deep is it? How much water do you think is in this puddle? Before allowing your child to jump around in puddles, you’re going to need to invest in a good pair of rain boots or Wellington’s. These are rubber boots that are entirely waterproof and ensure that their feet don’t get soaking wet while playing around. Ensure that these boots also have sturdy souls and an excellent grip to prevent slips and falls. Jumping and splashing in puddles helps to develop strength and balance in their legs. These actions require the use of leg muscles, contributing to their overall physical development. Social skills: jumping is a game children can engage in with other kids their age. It allows them to have social interaction and learn how to navigate and interact with other people while not requiring talking and verbal social skills.

Sound Comparisons: Have preschoolers drop pebbles of different sizes into puddles and listen to the sounds they make. Discuss with them how the size and depth of the puddle affect the sound produced. This activity enhances their sensory perception and understanding of cause and effect. A parent of children under 18 dies every 22 minutes in the UK; around 23,600 a year. This equates to around 111 children being bereaved of a parent every day. Jumping in puddles is a simple and enjoyable activity that offers a multitude of benefits for children's development. So, the next time it rains, don't be afraid to let your little ones embrace the joy of jumping in puddles. It's not just about getting wet; it's about promoting their physical, cognitive, and sensory growth. What Does It Mean to Jump in Puddles? While your instinct may be to prevent your kids from jumping into that puddle while going on a family walk or spending time at a playground, there are lots of reasons why you should be allowing them to play. It can be easy to get caught up in the idea of needing to clean up after playing in the puddles, but it’s time to reframe how you think about puddles.

Health: physical activity is always one of the best ways to keep your children healthy. Activities like jumping are a lot of fun and have their health benefits to go along with them. The act of jumping also helps to improve coordination and body awareness, as children need to time their jumps and adjust their movements to avoid falling. That's not nearly all either! The Benefits of Singing For Kids Many children enjoy trying to make a big splash. Is this about jumping with force, the size of your feet, the depth of the puddle or something else? How can this be safely investigated? Thank you Eve for a fab photo! 9) Stepping stones

Puddle jumping is the act of jumping in or around puddles of water either well playing outside or going on a walk. It’s an activity that some parents may be against because it can get the child wet and dirty. However, it is also an activity with plenty of benefits from both a physical and mental standpoint.

Looking for something different

Puddles also provide an opportunity for children to engage their senses. By dropping pebbles into the water, they can compare the sounds produced by different-sized and depth puddles. This sensory exploration aids in their auditory discrimination skills. Additionally, the sensation of water splashing on their skin and the sound it makes can be a delightful sensory experience. Jumping in puddles is a playful activity that involves leaping over small bodies of water on the ground. It can be seen as a metaphor for embracing spontaneity, enjoying simple pleasures, and taking small leaps of faith in life. Why is Jumping in Puddles Good for Children?
