Lee ChildCLOSE YOUR EYESThe game of hide and seek is over, everyone has gone home, but little Lily Murphy hasn't been found. Hide And Seek is a book that surprised me, I thought I knew where this was going after the first couple of chapters but boy I was wrong.
Irish author Andrea Mara’s latest mystery novel takes place in Rowanbrook, an upmarket South Dublin estate in fictional Edenvale. You witness dynamics you can’t get a handle on, shocking dysfunction with monsters masquerading behind a glossy appearance and deceptive smiles. She isn’t afraid to delve into some very dark topics in her books and Hide and Seek is no exception. When Joanna discovers that their new house was home to a little girl who went missing thirty-three years ago, she is obsessed with finding out what happened to little Lily. Joanna Stedman, her husband Mark and their three children, Emily, Ben and Sophie move into what they hope is their forever home in the suburbs of Dublin. She questions the neighbours and she suspects the disappearance is connected to an event from her own past.
I found myself on the edge of my seat with Joanna’s anxiety and her fear about being responsible for Lily’s death. However Joanna may have more of a connection to this case than just living in the house the Murphy's used to live in. Lily was never found and Joanna believes she knows more about this case than most because Joanna has a whole closet full of secrets herself.
